As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

We are currently working with a leading engineering contractor who are looking to recruit for an Assistant Rail Civil Design Engineer being based in Warrington working on Civils schemes to supplement electrification projects. As the Assistant Rail Civil Engineer will report to the Civil Team leader in which you’ll work with Civil Design Engineers, Graduates and Technicians in the efficient and effective delivery of projects in the civils team in producing civil engineering designs and studies for a range of railway infrastructure projects, specially linked to electrification.

As the Assistant Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the production of Civils design deliverables in accordance with Network Rail and client requirements working on such schemes as portal frames, foundation and gantries.  

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Graduate looking to make that next step up into an Assistant Engineering position.  As previously mentioned, this position is based in Warrington so could suit candidates from the North West regions such as Liverpool or Manchester.

Job Requirements

Ideally experience within a Rail Civils environment, however transferable sectors may be considered
3 year design experience
Experience in the use of Eurocodes.
Experience in the use of computer analysis programs.
Experience in foundation design and strong understanding of the Civil Design principals
