As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Well established client looking to hire an experienced Rail professional to head up their Rail Service Outputs. The role will involve working at a regional level, with close liaison with major stakeholders across the North of England. The role will involve planning and overseeing the delivery of major infrastructure projects, from a strategic level.


Educated to degree level or equivalent in a Rail engineering field ideally
Extensive experience of delivering rail projects
Able to demonstrate a level of strategic planning
Coordinating projects whilst considering the economic impact, environmental impacts and value for money

The role will involve:

Working as a technical rail specialist
Working with other specialists across the group, with a collaborative outlook
Developing operational plans and resource requirements to best meet the needs of the end client
attending strategic meeting with client and major stakeholders
Undertaking extensive research and development in order to identify the best options for delivering rail services across the North of England
Overseeing a portfolio of projects and programmes
Overseeing the commercial management, project planning and operational functions
Representing the group at various regional events and community projects
Leading the recovery from Covid-19 for the group

The package:

This role has been deemed INSIDE IR35
Good daily rate, which is negotiable depending on experience
Possibility of a long term contract, with a view to a permanent role
