RAIL Regulars
Welcome to RAIL Regulars. Here you will find a developing collection which includes a News Picture of the Day archive, galleries and Frequently Asked Questions, among other things. The GALLERIES button above will take you to the start of what we will develop as a photo-archive of interesting images.

We hope you enjoy our growing ‘galleries’ section! These photo-collections are for pure browsing enjoyment so do ‘pick and mix’ at your leisure – and do let us know what you think.
The ‘Recent Classics’ gallery is a collection of recently-published pictures which we especially enjoyed in the office and which we felt were worth a longer look, with a few more notes. The aerial shots of Euston and King’s Cross/St Pancras are particularly worth spending a little time on!
Then there are the ‘Nostalgia’ galleries, currently compiled either by RAIL Managing Editor Nigel Harris or RAIL Contributing Editor Chris Leigh. There are no rules, they simply feature historic pictures which caught Chris and Nigel’s interest because they have some resonance through the years since they were taken to today’s scene – usually in terms of how much the activity pictured has either changed or disappeared! You’ll even find Britain’s last shunting horse!
Finally, there’s a small gallery of ‘West Coast Winter’ shots by Telerail video cameraman and editor Phil Metcalfe, who proves that he’s as skilled with stills as he is with video shooting.
There are also many more galleries to enjoy, and we'll be adding more soon!
