TPE could operate Boxing Day trains

Boxing Day services could be operated by TransPennine Express this year, depending on funding.

Rail Minister Jo Johnson told Julian Sturdy (Conservative, York Outer) in a House of Commons Written Reply that the franchise agreement with TPE does not outline a timetable response, but that the Department for Transport and Rail North Partnerships are considering the contents.

He said: “A decision for this implementation date would be required by May/June 2018, and subject to identification of funding.”
