£1 million Harrogate upgrade complete

The £1 million upgrade of Northern Rail’s Harrogate station has been completed, with the final phase involving construction of a new heated waiting shelter on Platform 3 complete with power sockets and free WiFi.

The first phase was completed at the end of 2015 and included new toilet facilities, an upgraded waiting room on Platform 1, new LED lighting, anti-slip flooring, new seating and an improved station entrance.

The concourse was also refurbished in the programme, which was funded by the National Station Improvement Programme in partnership with Network Rail and the Department for Transport.

So Phase 2 of Harrogate station upgrade has been completed. Suppose that Platform 3 could be used as a terminus for Northern trains coming from Leeds, York and could soon be electrified with electric trains using Harrogate once the electrification is completed as part of the Northern Powerhouse scheme.
