Porterbrook buys 80 Class 387 vehicles

Porterbrook has purchased 80 class 387 Electrostar vehicles from Bombardier. The vehicles will be built at Bombardier’s Derby Litchurch Lane and delivery will start in October 2016, with full delivery to be taken ahead of June 2017.

A number of parties have already expressed an interest in leasing this new fleet, notably Rail for London but also established operators and prospective bidders of upcoming franchises.

With Class 387/3's Electrostars to be built as well. Hopefully Bombardier can finish of building the 27 Class 387/2's Electrostar for Gatwick Express and 8 Class 387/3's Electrostar for Great Western Railway by 2017 with Crossrail's Class 345's Aventra also to be built by 2018 in time for Crossrail to operate a full service from 2019. With Class 710 Aventra trains to be built as well for London Overground in 2017/2018 for Lea Valley, Gospel Oak and Romford-Upminster lines.
