Record passenger numbers for Tube

London Underground carried more passengers in the week ending December 13, then it did during the Olympic Games, setting a new record for the Tube.

Transport for London said that the number, 28.346 million, was higher than that carried during the 2012 Olympic Games.

The previous record, carried in the week ending August 13 2012, saw 28.235 million passengers carried by LU.

The new figures follow LU’s 2013/2014 record performance when 1.265 billion passengers were carried, which is an increase of a third over the past decade.
